In spring 2014, AnthroMed gGmbH concluded an agreement with the international grouping of anthroposophic art therapies on the utilisation of the AnthroMed Art Therapy trademark.
The trademark may be utilised by all anthroposophic art therapists who have concluded a recognised anthroposophic art therapy training with a diploma and are members of a national professional association for anthroposophic art therapy which is linked contractually with AnthroMed gGmbH.
Anthroposophic art therapies are an important, integrated part of anthroposophic medicine and are engaged in a constant process of ongoing development through the collaboration between physicians, artists and therapists. The therapies comprise the domains of painting and drawing, music, singing, clay modelling and creative speech, each one with its own differentiated media, processes and therapeutic effects. Anthroposophic art therapies are an important and integral part of anthroposophic medicine. They are founded on the trained holistic perception and treatment of the person by means of artistic resources and processes which respect the individuality and are based on a therapeutic relationship.
The healing effect of active artistic creation arises because laws take effect in artistic activity as are found and can be perceived in human beings themselves, for instance as anabolic or catabolic, hardening or dissolving, stimulating or calming, pictorial or listening elements. And also as we find them expressed in one-sided ways in disease processes.
Patients are supported by the therapy and encouraged to intervene with active creativity in the disease process, thus opening up healing resources for themselves. The way in which a person can thus work on shaping their own destiny, challenged by the disease process, is one of the central motifs in a course of art therapy and forms the basis of healing. In the anthroposophic understanding of the human being art therapy can be used to act on vital-physiological, soul and spiritual functions.
The following national professional associations for anthroposophic art therapy have so far affiliated to use the mark:
